What is IPL?
IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, is a method of hair removal that uses light to target the pigment in the hair, disrupting the hair growth cycle and preventing regrowth.
It is a safe procedure that does not damage the skin.
IPL is suitable for individuals with naturally dark blonde, brown, and black hair, and it works on a range of skin tones from very white to dark brown.
However, it is not effective on white, grey, light blonde, or red hair, and it is not suitable for
very dark skin.
How does it work?
1. Light energy is applied to the skin and absorbed by the melanin in the hair shaft.
2. The absorbed light is converted into heat energy beneath the skin's surface, which disables the hair follicle and prevents further growth.
3. Treated hairs naturally fall out over a period of a few days to a couple of weeks, depending on the individual.
4. To catch each hair during its growth phase, it is recommended to repeat the treatment every week for eight weeks.
Certifications
Mlay IPL is 100% safe and has been certified by:
- National institute of Laser enhanced sciences.
- SFDA, ROHS, FDA, ISO, and CE.
- It meets all medical and safety standards in GCC, Europe, the USA, and Asian countries.
Advantages of home use IPL technology over Laser technology
- IPL emits light with different wavelengths that penetrate to different depths.
- Laser hair removal uses a single specific wavelength.
- Laser hair removal is commonly used in
professional medical and aesthetic hospitals but
is less commonly used at home due to its higher
pain levels and lower safety performance. IPL, on
the other hand, can be used at home which
offers: more privacy
- safety
- time
- flexibility
- cost-effectiveness
- IPL technology does more than just hair
removal, it provides skin rejuvenation and acne
treatment.
How many sessions are recommended?
The time it takes to see the effect of IPL varies depending on the individual and
the body part being treated. Multiple treatments are usually required for
continuous smooth skin, and it is recommended to undergo 4-12 weeks of
treatment initially. Once hair growth stops, maintenance treatments can be
performed.
Post care instructions
- Apply a moisturizer lotion right after the treatment.
- avoid direct exposure to sun without wearing a sun screen SPF 50+
- Avoid activities or products that may irritate the skin within 24 hours, such as:
exposure to hot tubs or saunas, tight clothing, bleach creams, perfume products,
or peeling products
